Quick Answer: The Solar Focometer measures the focal length of a convex lens using sunlight, whose nearly parallel rays converge at the focal point. Moving the screen until a sharp image of the Sun forms gives the focal length directly.

Key Features
Uses sunlight as a distant, nearly parallel light source
The convex lens sits in a lens holder facing the Sun
Distance from the lens to the sharp solar image gives the approximate focal length
Repeated readings can be averaged for a better value

About This Product
Because the Sun is so far away, its rays arrive almost parallel, so a convex lens brings them to a point at its focal length. The focometer turns this into a quick outdoor practical in which students find the sharp solar image, measure the distance and average several readings. The Solar Focometer can be supplied on export terms to Ecuador, Somalia, Lebanon, Argentina and Libya.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to look at the Sun through the Solar Focometer?
No. Never look directly at the Sun through the lens or instrument, and do not focus sunlight on skin, paper, plastic or flammable material for long periods.
